Ultimate Ride, The_Disk2 came out for the Amiga in 1990, developed by a team whose name doesn't ring a bell for me now. It was part of that wave of early 90s racing games trying to push what the hardware could do, sitting somewhere between the arcade simplicity of earlier titles and the more complex sims that would follow.

You control a selection of vehicles, from nimble bikes to heavier cars, racing across a variety of tracks that mix tarmac with off-road challenges. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. You collect power-ups scattered on the course, things like turbo boosts or temporary shields, and use them to gain an edge or defend against opponents. The game supports split-screen multiplayer, which really was the highlight, letting you compete directly with a friend. The pacing is quick, with tight controls that demand focus, especially on narrower sections where a small mistake can cost you the race. It feels responsive and competitive, especially when you're battling for position in the final lap.
