AMC: Astro Marine Corps is one of those classic Amiga shooters where you're basically a space marine stuck in the worst alien infestation ever. You move sideways (because that's how all the cool shooters did it back then) blasting through waves of creepy creatures.

You start with three lives, and each one has an energy bar that ticks down every time some alien slime touches you—though you can grab floating "E" icons to heal up. The power-ups are simple but satisfying: three-way fire turns you into a walking bullet storm, and the shield gives you a brief moment of feeling invincible.

Then there are the hazards. One wrong move and a giant plant swallows you whole, or a dragon decides you look tasty and spits out your bones like some kind of cosmic horror punchline. It's tough, but in that way where you keep telling yourself "one more try."

If you miss the days of straightforward, no-nonsense shooters, this one’s a solid blast from the past.
