Adventures of Star Saver came out for the Game Boy in 1991, published by Taito. It was one of those side-scrolling action games that felt right at home on the handheld, a straightforward adventure without a lot of fuss. You don't hear much about it now, but it had a certain charm that fit right in with the platform's library at the time.

You control a little space hero who jumps between planet screens, shooting star-shaped bullets at waves of alien enemies. The main goal is to clear each stage of foes and defeat the boss waiting at the end. The game uses a screen-by-screen exploration structure; you move left or right to new areas only after clearing the current one. Combat is simple but requires careful positioning to avoid getting overwhelmed. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a compact, no-nonsense arcade experience squeezed into a cartridge.
