You explore the world screen by screen, battling both wild Pokemon and other trainers to gain experience and strengthen your team. A big part of the game is the collection aspect, trying to find and catch all 150 Pokemon, which involves a lot of trading with friends who had the Blue version. The pacing is slow and deliberate, built on repetition and gradual growth, and the difficulty comes from managing your team's types and moves against increasingly tough opponents. It feels like building a small, trusted group of partners from almost nothing, and that connection is what makes it stick.
