Pokémon White Version 2 picks up two years after the first game, and Unova feels different—some towns have changed, new areas have opened up, and there’s this weird frozen chunk of city right at the start. You’ll recognize a lot of the region, but it’s got enough twists to keep it interesting.
The battles are as snappy as ever, and the new Pokémon mixes mean you’re not just facing the same old teams from the first game. I ended up with a Serperior and a Lucario early on, which was a fun combo. The story’s a bit more involved this time, with Team Plasma split into two factions—some still clinging to their old ideals, others just causing trouble.
If you played the first one, it’s cool seeing how places like Castelia City have evolved. If you didn’t, no worries—it stands fine on its own. Either way, it’s one of the better DS Pokémon games.
