Play Pokemon Yellow Online
Pikachu follows you everywhere, refusing its Poké Ball, while Team Rocket pops up like the cartoon villains they are—it’s Red and Blue but way more alive. The sprites finally look right, battles flow better, and yeah, you can actually catch ‘em all now.

Pokemon Yellow came out in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It was part of that wave of late 90s handheld games that really pushed what the hardware could do, with better color and a few extra features that set it apart from the earlier Red and Blue versions.
You play as a young trainer traveling across the Kanto region, capturing wild Pokemon, battling other trainers, and working to defeat the eight gym leaders. The game follows a screen by screen exploration style, with random encounters in tall grass and a turn based battle system. Pikachu follows you on the overworld map, and you can even check its mood, which was a neat little touch at the time. The pacing is steady, though some areas and trainer battles can be surprisingly tough if you're under leveled. It feels like a fuller, more polished version of the original adventure, with just enough personality to make it stand out.
