Bounce through tricky rooms, avoid spikes and enemies, and use momentum to break walls in this quirky puzzle platformer.
Airball is a 2004 Game Boy Advance release from developer Neko Entertainment, a small puzzle platformer that fits right in with the system's library of quirky, physics-driven games. It arrived late in the GBA's life, a time when developers were comfortable experimenting with the hardware's capabilities, often focusing on unique mechanics over big-budget spectacle.
You control a fragile, bouncy ball through a series of hazardous, multi-screen rooms. The goal is simply to navigate from the entrance to the exit, but getting there is the real challenge. Tapping the button makes you hop, and you must use this limited mobility to weave through tight corridors, avoid spikes and enemies, and sometimes use momentum to break through fragile walls. The physics are intentionally slippery and unpredictable, making every jump feel tense. It's a game about patience and precision, where success comes from learning the rhythm of each room's obstacles. Navigating its claustrophobic spaces feels like solving a tactile, often frustrating, puzzle.
