I first played Alien Hominid on the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a port of the flash game that The Behemoth originally released. It came out late in the GBA's life, a time when the DS was already on shelves, but it still felt right at home among other frantic, sprite-based action games. The small screen didn't hold it back.
You control a small, bright yellow alien trying to retrieve its stolen UFO from the government. The action is constant; you move screen by screen, blasting agents with your blaster, sliding under bullets, and using a satisfyingly chunky head-bite on anyone who gets too close. The game is brutally difficult, demanding quick reflexes and smart use of your limited lives. It feels like a controlled explosion of cartoon violence from start to finish.
