This Amiga game is a weird little time capsule based on that Don Bluth cartoon with Burt Reynolds voicing a dog (because the 80s were like that). You play as Charlie, a lovable mutt who gets offed by a crime boss pup and has to work his way back from doggy heaven. The story mode stitches together ten mini-games using scenes from the movie, but honestly? I just jumped straight to the rat race.
Some of the mini-games feel like they raided an arcade’s bargain bin—there’s Hangman, Towers of Hanoi, and this janky maze where you crawl through air vents. But the rat race is the real star: you play as "Squad Car," a rodent with a cop name, dodging traps while racing against other rats. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, and the difficulty spikes are brutal. Three levels mean you can ease in or go straight to "why am I sweating over pixel rats?"
Don’t expect deep lore—just a charmingly odd mix of puzzles and chaos that somehow ties back to a cartoon dog’s afterlife.
