Game Overview

All-Star Baseball 2003 on GBA is exactly what you'd expect from an early 2000s baseball game—simple, a little janky, but weirdly charming. You get Derek Jeter grinning at you from the cover, which feels like a time capsule now. The controls are basic (no fancy pitching mechanics here), but it’s got that pick-up-and-play vibe where you can knock out a quick game between bus stops.

Batting feels stiff at first, like you’re swinging a pool noodle, but you get used to it. Fielding is where things get messy—outfielders move like they’re stuck in molasses sometimes. Still, there’s something satisfying about lining up a perfect home run, even if the crowd cheers sound like they were recorded in a tin can.

It’s not the deepest baseball sim, but if you’re nostalgic for early handheld sports games, this one’s got that rough-around-the-edges appeal.
