Angelique is one of those GBA games that feels like a mix between a visual novel and a light strategy sim—except instead of dating regular people, you're trying to win over elemental guardians while also competing to become the next cosmic queen. Your rival, Rosalia, is the kind of character you love to hate, always popping up to mess with your plans.
At the start, you pick Angelique’s zodiac sign, which actually matters—it affects which guardian she naturally clicks with. I went with Libra first, not realizing it’d make the fire guardian way too charming to resist. Oops. You spend your days visiting the guardians, chatting them up, and managing the land’s balance, but if you get too close to one, well… let’s just say the queen title might slip away for something more personal.
The GBA version keeps the original’s vibe but tightens up the pacing. No puzzles, just a lot of dialogue choices and subtle strategy. The anime cutscenes are a nice touch, even if the sprites are tiny. It’s the kind of game where you’ll restart just to see how differently things play out with a different zodiac pick.
