Apidya is a 1992 horizontal shoot 'em up for Amiga. Features side-scrolling action, weapon power-ups, and boss battles across biomechanical levels.
Ever played a shoot 'em up where you control a bee? Yeah, me neither—until Apidya. This Amiga gem throws you into a weirdly beautiful world of insect warfare, dodging pollen bullets and battling oversized garden pests. The first level alone has you weaving through giant mushrooms while some seriously catchy synth music kicks in. It’s tough but fair, and the sprite work still holds up—those enemy designs are equal parts creepy and charming.
Just don’t get too comfortable. By stage two, you’ll be dodging frog tongues and navigating a honeycomb maze that feels like it’s actively trying to squash you. The power-ups are simple (speed boosts, weapon upgrades), but they make all the difference when a swarm of angry fireflies comes at you sideways. One of those games where you’ll retry the same section six times and still come back for more.
