Play Army Men : Operation Green Online
Take control of a green soldier, battle the tan army, clear missions, explore familiar spaces, grab weapons, and hop in vehicles for some chaotic pocket-sized warfare.
Army Men: Operation Green came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by 3DO. It was one of those portable titles that fit right into the era, a straightforward action game you could pick up for some quick, chaotic fun without a huge time commitment. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just offered a solid, small-scale war you could carry in your pocket.
You control a single green plastic soldier, fighting through a house and yard taken over by the tan army. Your main goal is to complete each mission, which usually involves clearing all enemies from an area or reaching a specific exit point. The gameplay is built on screen-by-screen exploration, moving through familiar domestic spaces that become hostile territory. You find different weapons, from rifles to flamethrowers, and can even commandeer vehicles like jeeps for a firepower advantage. The pacing is fairly brisk, though some enemy placements can feel cheap, leading to quick deaths if you aren't careful. It feels like a scrappy, slightly janky little battle where every shot and explosion has a satisfying, chunky weight to it.
