Battle through levels as Passepartout, punch and kick enemies, solve platforming puzzles, and race against time to help Phileas Fogg win his wager in this 2004 side-scroller.
Around the World in 80 Days came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Saffire and published by Atari. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the feel of a movie, in this case the Jackie Chan adaptation, without necessarily breaking new ground on the handheld. You got a lot of these side-scrolling action titles back then, often built around a familiar property to draw players in.
You control Passepartout, played by Jackie Chan, as he fights his way across the world to help Phileas Fogg win his famous wager. The game plays out screen by screen, mixing simple brawling against thugs and guards with occasional platforming challenges. You punch, kick, and use context-sensitive objects in the environment to clear a path, all while racing a strict timer that pushes you forward. Some stages break things up with on-rails shooting sections, like defending a hot air balloon from attacking birds. The pace is generally brisk, though the timer can make certain sections feel a bit rushed if you get stuck. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes repetitive action game that relies heavily on its setting to hold interest.
