Play Assault Suit Leynos (Japan) Online
Pilot a clunky mech that actually feels heavy, juggling overheating thrusters and a ridiculous arsenal while cyborgs swarm you—that zero-G level still throws me off every time.

Game Overview
Assault Suit Leynos (or Target Earth, if you grew up with the Western release) is one of those Genesis-era mech shooters that still feels intense decades later. You're piloting a chunky, weighty assault suit across Ganymede and later Earth, blasting through waves of cyborg soldiers with this absurd arsenal—14 weapons sounds standard now, but back then? Choosing between the spread shot and homing missiles actually mattered.
The controls take a second to click—your mech has momentum, so you can't just jerk around like in Contra. But once you get the hang of boosting and managing your overheating thrusters, weaving through bullet hell while your HUD blares warnings feels incredible. The stage where you're suddenly fighting in zero-G still messes with me.
It's punishing, but not cheap. Every death teaches you something, and squeezing through a boss fight by the skin of your armor never gets old. The soundtrack’s all crunchy synths and alarm sirens, perfect for the 2201 dystopia vibe. Still holds up if you like your action tactical.
