Sonic Classic Heroes is a fan made game that was released for the Sega Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive, though it was not an official Sega product. It takes the familiar stages from the original Sonic the Hedgehog games and reworks them for a new kind of cooperative, fast paced action.
You control a team of three characters: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, all at the same time. The main goal is still to get to the end of each act and defeat Robotnik, but the way you move changes everything. You can instantly switch between characters mid jump to use Sonic's speed for a dash, Tails' flight to cross gaps, or Knuckles' climbing and gliding to reach new areas. This constant swapping lets you pull off long chains of movement that feel incredibly fluid. The stages are the same classic layouts, but playing with three characters at once makes the screen feel more crowded and chaotic, especially during boss fights. It turns the familiar precision of the originals into a more frantic, combo driven experience where you're always managing the whole team.
