Atomic Betty on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2005, developed by 1st Playable Productions and published by D3Publisher. It was one of those many licensed games that filled the shelves during the GBA's peak, based on the animated series about a space-faring heroine. You don't see it talked about much now, but it had its moment.
You control Betty, piloting her ship through side-scrolling and top-down shooter stages, blasting waves of alien enemies with your primary laser. The main goal is to protect Earth and defeat the villainous Maximus I.Q., which involves navigating through asteroid fields, dodging enemy fire, and collecting shield and weapon power-ups to survive. The action is constant, with screen-filling bosses that require pattern recognition and quick reflexes. It feels straightforward but hectic, like a classic arcade shooter shrunk down for your hands.
