Game Overview

Baby Jo in 'Going Home' came out on the Amiga in 1991, developed by Loriciel and published by Softgold. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers, a time when developers were experimenting with all sorts of concepts, and this one definitely had a unique premise. You don't see many games where the main character is a baby.

You control Baby Jo, a diaper-clad infant trying to make his way home. The goal is to navigate through four levels, each a different environment like a garden or a construction site, while avoiding hazards and enemies such as bees and lawnmowers. You can throw your rattle as a projectile weapon to temporarily stun foes. Two key mechanics manage your status: a thirst meter that requires you to find and drink from a bottle, and a diaper indicator that forces you to find a changing spot before it's too late. The game moves at a brisk pace and the difficulty comes from managing these needs while platforming. It feels like a constant, slightly frantic scramble to keep your little hero fed, clean, and moving forward.
