Play Backyard Hockey Online
Skate around the ice, score goals, and use wild power-ups in Backyard Hockey on Game Boy Advance.
Backyard Hockey came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Humongous Entertainment. It was part of that wave of sports games that tried to be more approachable and a little silly, which fit right in with the portable, pick-up-and-play style of the GBA. You weren't getting a serious simulation; it was hockey stripped down to its fun, chaotic basics.
You control a team of kids and minor league pros, skating up and down the ice trying to score goals. The main objective is just to win the game, but you can adjust rules like period length or penalties to keep things interesting. Signature mechanics include special power-up items that drop on the ice, like a magnet that pulls the puck to your stick or a tornado that scatters all the players. The pacing is fast, the difficulty is pretty forgiving, and it just feels like a quick, cheerful arcade version of hockey you can play anywhere.
