Bad Omen is one of those Genesis games that makes you wonder how it slipped under the radar. Right from the start, you're dodging flaming skulls and swinging a sword through these gorgeously grim levels—like someone took a medieval woodcut and made it move. The controls are tight, but don't expect any hand-holding; that first boss took me way too many tries to figure out.
It's got that perfect mix of Castlevania atmosphere and Ghosts 'n Goblins cruelty, but with its own weird little quirks. The music creeps under your skin in the best way, all haunting synths and dungeon echoes. And those sprites? Every enemy looks like it crawled out of an old horror comic.
