Game Overview

Ballistix came out on the Amiga in 1989 from Psygnosis, and it was one of those games that felt different from the usual platformers and shooters of the time. It didn't rely on flashy sprites or a big story; instead, it offered a clean, almost minimalist look that put the focus squarely on its clever mechanics.

You control a ball on a flat, enclosed court, and your only tool is a launcher that shoots smaller balls to push yourself around. The goal is to knock your ball into the opponent's goal, either against the computer or a friend in two-player mode. Everything operates with realistic physics; you have to account for momentum, angles, and ricochets while navigating obstacles and walls. Matches are fast and tense, demanding quick thinking and precise shots. It feels like playing a hybrid of air hockey and billiards, but with a unique tactical twist all its own.
