Banishing Racer came out for the Game Boy in 1991, published by Jaleco. It was part of that wave of early portable games where developers tried all kinds of ideas, not always polished, but often memorable for their sheer weirdness. You don't hear much about it now, but it had a strange charm that stuck with you.
You control a beat-up sedan that's been brought to life by a fairy, bouncing through inventive levels that mix platforming with unexpected shifts. You jump over junk piles, suddenly take flight, and even survive underwater sections (somehow). The main goal is just to reach the end of each stage, fighting off odd enemies and taking on bosses that feel as janky and charming as the rest of the game. It's not especially hard, but the physics are quirky and the pacing is uneven. Playing it feels like driving a car that's held together with magic and hope.
