Bard’s Tale II on the Amiga is one of those old-school dungeon crawlers that somehow makes grinding through endless corridors feel weirdly satisfying. You start with a party of adventurers—fighters, mages, thieves—and immediately get thrown into a maze of traps, monsters, and cryptic puzzles. The graphics are simple by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about the way your little sprites shuffle through the dark.
First thing you’ll do? Probably get lost. The maps are brutal, and if you’re not drawing them out on graph paper (or using a walkthrough like a sane person), you’ll be wandering in circles for hours. Combat’s turn-based, with spells that actually matter—none of that "hit it until it dies" nonsense. Just don’t expect hand-holding. This game makes you work for every bit of progress.
