I picked up Batman Begins on the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, a portable tie-in to the movie released by EA Games. It was a solid action title for its time, fitting right in with the other licensed games that tried to capture a film's energy on the small screen. You got to be Batman, which was the main draw, and it did a decent job of translating the darker tone of the film into a 2D side-scroller.
You control Batman through a series of missions that mix brawling, stealth, and light puzzle solving. The main goal is to stop Ra's al Ghul's plot, moving from screen to screen, taking down thugs with combos and throwing batarangs. You also use gadgets like the grapple gun to reach higher areas and smoke pellets to disorient enemies. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some sections demand patience, especially when you need to avoid alerting guards. It feels satisfying to finally clear a room silently or land a perfect series of hits.
