Battle Crusher came out on the Game Boy in 1995, developed by Banpresto. It was part of that wave of action-puzzle hybrids that felt perfectly suited for short bursts on the handheld, offering a distinct challenge without the lengthy commitment of an RPG.
You control a little knight whose main job is to clear each single-screen stage of all its blocks. You do this by hitting them with your sword; matching three or more of the same color causes a chain reaction that clears a huge chunk of the board at once. The real pressure comes from the enemies that spawn constantly, climbing over the blocks to get to you. Your goal is simply survival and clearing the stage before you get overwhelmed. It's a fast, tense game where one misjudged swing can trap you. The constant clatter of breaking blocks and the immediate threat of being cornered makes every stage feel like a narrow escape.
