Better Dead Than Alien! came out in 1988 for the Amiga, published by Electra. It was one of those early Amiga shooters that tried to push the hardware with colorful graphics and fast action, fitting right into the era when developers were still figuring out what the system could really do.

You control a lone soldier, moving left and right at the bottom of the screen, shooting upward at waves of descending aliens. Your main goal is simply to survive; you have one life, and if you lose it, you start over from the beginning (though level codes help). The game spans 75 levels, each with its own patterns of enemies and obstacles to dodge, along with occasional power-ups like shields or bombs. Boss fights break up the action every few stages. It’s fast, relentless, and unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes and memorization. Playing it feels like a constant race against the screen filling up with enemies.
