Black Bass: Lure Fishing on Game Boy is a stripped-down version of Super Black Bass, but honestly, that’s not a bad thing. You’ve got two lakes to explore and a handful of lures—spinner baits, plastic frogs, even worms—which keeps things simple. No overthinking which bait to pick, just cast and hope for the best.
The overhead casting view feels a little odd at first, but you quickly get used to it. The real action happens in the side view, where you watch your lure sink and wait for fish shadows to creep closer. There’s something weirdly satisfying about seeing a bass dart toward your line just before the strike.
Only four fish types here—trout, pike, catfish, and the star of the show, black bass—but each one fights differently when you’re reeling them in. It’s basic, but sometimes that’s all you need for a quick fishing fix.
