Play Black Belt Challenge Online
Pick a fighter, learn their combos—what starts as button mashing turns into legit brawls, especially when you unlock secret characters or drag a friend into VS mode. The ninja’s bamboo forest stage still feels cooler than it has any right to.

Black Belt Challenge is one of those GBA fighters that surprised me—it’s got way more depth than you’d expect from a handheld brawler. You start by picking from 11 fighters, each with their own stage (the ninja’s bamboo forest is my favorite). At first, I just mashed buttons, but after a few rounds in Training mode, I realized there’s actual combos to learn.
Arcade mode’s the obvious starting point, but Challenge mode’s where I got hooked—you earn coins to unlock concept art and secret characters. The VS mode’s a blast if you’ve got a friend with a Link cable, though good luck finding someone who still carries one around. And yeah, it saves your progress, which is nice when you’re trying to grind through Survival mode without throwing your GBA across the room.
It’s not Street Fighter, but for a cartridge this small, it packs a solid punch.
