Bloodshot is one of those Sega Genesis games that makes you wonder how it slipped under the radar. You play as this half-machine wrecking ball, sprinting through neon-lit corridors and just annihilating everything in sight. The first level throws mutant freaks at you like it’s personal—you’ve got a shotgun that feels way too good for 16-bit, and the screen shakes every time something explodes (which is often).
It’s got that Contra energy but with a grimy cyberpunk vibe—like if someone mashed up RoboCop and a heavy metal album cover. The difficulty doesn’t mess around, though. You’ll die. A lot. But there’s something satisfying about memorizing enemy patterns and finally blasting your way past that one stupid turret section that wrecked you six times.
Not gonna lie, the soundtrack slaps, too. Synth beats and gunfire—perfect combo. If you’ve still got a Genesis hooked up, this one’s a blast from the past that holds up weirdly well.
