Boxing Fever on the GBA is like someone took Punch-Out!!, cranked up the cartoonish energy, and stuffed it into your pocket. The first thing you'll notice is how ridiculous the fighters look—one guy's got a literal frying pan for gloves, another looks like he walked out of a 90s wrestling promo. And somehow, it works.
The controls are simple (dodge left/right, throw punches), but timing matters way more than you'd think. I kept getting wrecked by the second opponent until I realized you can't just button mash—gotta watch for their tells. That "aha" moment when you finally counterpunch some clown with a mohawk into next week? Pure satisfaction.
Career mode's the real meat of it. You start as a nobody in dingy gyms, working up to arenas with flashing lights and announcers screaming your name. The AI gets cheap sometimes (looking at you, "Dr. Pain"), but that just makes beating them sweeter. It's not fancy by today's standards, but for a quick fix of arcade boxing chaos, this still holds up.
