Brain Drain is one of those deceptively simple Game Boy puzzlers that starts off easy—until suddenly it isn’t. You’re given a small pattern of symbols (hearts, apples, that sort of thing) in the corner, and your job is to rearrange a scrambled grid to match it. The trick? You can only rotate groups of four symbols at a time using this little frame selector. Sounds straightforward, but the timer’s always ticking, and later levels love to mess with you—symbols flip on their own, question marks hide what you’re working with, or (my personal nightmare) the controls reverse mid-move.
There’s a nice little risk-reward thing going on—if you solve a level fast enough, you earn power-ups like freezing time or skipping a level entirely. And if you’re feeling competitive, Brain Race mode turns the whole thing into a speedrun challenge. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail a level three times in a row, swear you’re done, then immediately try again.
