Cadash is one of those old-school Sega Genesis gems that blends platforming with RPG elements in a way that still feels surprisingly fresh. You pick either a fighter or mage (the Genesis version cut the priestess and ninja, sadly) and set off to rescue a kidnapped princess from an evil wizard—classic stuff, but the execution is what makes it shine.
Right away, you notice how different the two characters feel. The fighter’s all about brute force, hacking through enemies with a sword, while the mage relies on spells that drain MP fast but can clear a room if you time them right. The dungeons are packed with traps, pits, and monsters that actually make you think before charging in—jumping feels weighty, and missing a ledge hurts.
What I love is how it doesn’t hold your hand. You’ll stumble into hidden shops, grind a bit for XP, and even find gear that changes how you approach fights. It’s got that arcade-y feel but with just enough depth to keep you hooked. The pixel art’s gritty, and the music nails that dark fantasy vibe.
