Cartoon Network Speedway came out in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance, developed by The Game Factory. It was one of those many kart racers that tried to capture some of that Mario Kart energy on the handheld, but with a roster pulled straight from Cartoon Network's lineup at the time. You had characters like Dexter, the Powerpuff Girls, and Johnny Bravo all crammed into tiny, colorful cars, ready to race.
You pick a character and race on tracks inspired by their shows, trying to finish first while using items like bowling balls and rockets to knock other racers off course. The main goal is to win cups in the championship mode, which unlocks new racers and tracks. The drifting mechanic is crucial for maintaining speed on the tighter turns, and the items add a layer of chaos, especially in the two-player versus mode. The difficulty isn't too punishing, making it a decent pick for quick sessions. It feels like a straightforward, slightly janky kart racer that gets the job done when you want something simple and familiar.
