Play CarVup Online
1990 Amiga action game. Drive a car to color girders in a monochrome world. Auto-reverse at edges, jump gaps, dodge patterned enemies.
CarVup came out on the Amiga in 1990 from Core Design Ltd. It was part of that wave of early 90s games that experimented with simple concepts, using the hardware to create something visually distinct without relying on complex stories or characters.
You control a small car on a monochrome grid of platforms. Your goal is to drive over every girder to color it in, turning the stark black and white world into a vibrant, filled-in stage. The car automatically reverses direction when it hits the edge of the screen, so you're constantly weaving back and forth. You tap the jump button to hop over gaps and avoid the patrolling enemies, which follow set paths and can erase your progress if they touch you. The challenge comes from planning your route to avoid these foes while the screen gradually fills with color. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move counts.
