Game Overview
Castle Quest is this weird little Game Boy gem that mashes up chess, fantasy brawls, and card battles. You’ve got a tiny army—orcmen, karate guys, warriors—moving across a chessboard, but when two pieces clash, things get wild. Instead of just capturing, they duke it out in a card-based mini-game where luck and unit stats decide who survives.
Some units hit harder, others have better odds of pulling a deadly joker card, and a few can even cast spells if they land on empty squares. I remember my first match—sent a warrior in thinking he’d crush an orc, only to watch him get wrecked by a lucky draw. Spells add some chaos too, either blasting nearby enemies or reviving your fallen pieces. It’s chess if chess had way more backstabbing and dramatic comebacks.
Not gonna lie, the card roulette can feel brutal when RNG screws you, but that’s part of the charm. You’ll start memorizing which units have the best decks after a few losses.
