Championship Bowling is the only bowling game on the Sega Genesis, and honestly? It’s not bad. You pick from four bowlers—each with their own weirdly distinct vibes—and then try to nail the timing for power, angle, and spin using those classic stop-the-meter mechanics. Mess it up, and your ball veers into the gutter like you’re throwing with your eyes closed.
There’s regular 10-pin bowling, but the real fun is in the weird modes. Spare mode throws random pin setups at you, and bonus mode turns it into a weird point-scoring puzzle where some pins are worth way more than others. The lanes have different friction levels too, so sometimes it feels like you’re bowling on ice.
Oh, and if you track down the Japanese version (Boogie Woogie Bowling), you get anime-style characters, including a robot bowler for absolutely no reason. The physics are slightly tweaked, but it’s basically the same game—just with more inexplicable charm.
