Play Cheese Cat-Astrophe Starring Speedy Gonzales Online
Speedy Gonzales chucks his sombrero at Dr. Cheesefinger's goons while rescuing mice from cheese traps—Bugs helps, but only if you bribe him with carrots first.

Cheese Cat-Astrophe Starring Speedy Gonzales came out for the Sega Genesis in 1995, developed by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of mid-90s platformers, especially ones based on Looney Tunes characters, that tried to capture some of that cartoon energy on a 16-bit system. It wasn't the biggest release of the year, but it had a certain charm if you were into the character or just looking for something different to play.
You control Speedy Gonzales through a series of side-scrolling levels, running and jumping to rescue your mouse friends who are trapped in cheese wheels. Your main attack is throwing your sombrero like a boomerang to stun enemies, and you can also collect carrots to bribe Bugs Bunny into appearing for a screen-clearing assist. The levels are broken into distinct screens you clear one by one, and the challenge comes from navigating tricky platform layouts and timing your hat throws just right. It feels fast and a little frantic, like you're always just a step ahead of the next cat or trap.
