Crash Bandicoot Advance was a Japan only release for the Game Boy Advance, developed by Vicarious Visions. It arrived during a time when many classic platformers were being adapted for handhelds, offering a portable dose of the series' particular brand of obstacle course navigation.

You control Crash, running, spinning, and jumping through linear levels filled with crates to break and enemies to defeat. The main goal is to reach the end of each stage while collecting Wumpa fruit and avoiding hazards. Signature mechanics include breaking every crate in a level for a gem and carefully timing jumps on moving platforms or over bottomless pits. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with the limited visibility of the small screen.
