Dark Side was an Amiga game from 1988, developed by Incentive Software and published by Micro Status and Cinemaware. It came out during a time when the Amiga was pushing what home computers could do visually, and this was one of those titles that tried to leverage that power for something a bit more ambitious than the usual side scroller.
You pilot a small attack craft inside a moon base, tasked with destroying a series of Energy Collection Devices that regenerate if you don't take them all out. Movement is in a first person style, screen by screen, using a jetpack to navigate the multi level environments. You have to manage your fuel and shield energy carefully while blasting automated defense turrets and avoiding traps. The pace is deliberate, almost tense, because a wrong move or wasted shot can leave you exposed. It feels like a tactical infiltration more than a straightforward shoot-em-up.
