Darkmere Disk4 came out on the Amiga in 1994 from Zero Hour Software. You control a lone hero navigating a dark fantasy world screen by screen. The main goal is to explore the land, fight monsters in real time with your sword or bow, and delve into dungeons to gather key items that unlock new areas. The pacing is deliberate; you have to pay close attention to your surroundings, manage your health, and figure out how to use what you find. It feels like a methodical, sometimes punishing test of your observation and combat skills.
