Play Datastorm Online
1988 Amiga action shooter with horizontal scrolling. Rescue 8 pods through portals while fighting enemies. Features power-ups: auto-fire, multi-lasers, homing missiles, level skips, shield. Losing pods increases difficulty.

Game Overview
Datastorm takes the classic Defender formula and twists it just enough to feel fresh. You're zipping across a looping landscape, grabbing pods and hauling them to portals while dodging enemy fire. The Landers are relentless—if they snatch a pod and escape to the top of the screen, you're in for a world of hurt. But here's the cool part: you don't have to wait for them to make the first move. Just swoop in and grab pods before they do.
Power-ups are scattered around, including an auto-fire (which felt revolutionary back then), homing missiles, and even a level skip if you're desperate. The real tension comes from managing pods—lose too many early on, and the next few levels become brutal as enemies get tougher and your shield doesn't recharge. It's one of those games where every decision matters, and that "just one more try" feeling hits hard.
Also, the soundtrack slaps. That Amiga sound chip was doing serious work here.
