Play Datastorm Online
1988 Amiga action shooter with horizontal scrolling. Rescue 8 pods through portals while fighting enemies. Features power-ups: auto-fire, multi-lasers, homing missiles, level skips, shield. Losing pods increases difficulty.

Datastorm came out for the Amiga in 1988 from Visionary Design Technologies Inc. It was one of those shooters that showed off what the platform could do with smooth scrolling and colorful graphics. At the time, it felt like a solid entry in the crowded shoot 'em up genre, offering a familiar but polished experience.
You pilot a small ship through horizontally scrolling levels, shooting down waves of enemy craft and dodging their fire. The main goal is to rescue eight escape pods by guiding them through portals while defending them from attackers. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups like auto-fire, multi-directional lasers, and homing missiles; you can also find temporary shields or even skip ahead a level. Losing pods makes the game harder, adding tension as you progress. It feels fast and demanding, requiring quick reflexes and careful movement to survive.
