Game Overview

Dead Heat Scramble came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Copya System. It was one of those early racing titles that tried to squeeze a little more speed and style out of the handheld's limited hardware. You won't find many people talking about it now, but back then it was a solid option if you wanted something quick to play between classes or on a bus ride.

You control a small, top down car racing through narrow, maze like tracks against a single opponent. The goal is straightforward: finish three laps before the other car does. You collect nitro boosts scattered around the course for a quick burst of speed, though using them carelessly can slam you right into a wall. The tracks are tight and demand precise turns; later stages get brutally fast, and one mistake often costs the race. It feels tense and twitchy, a game of reflexes where every input matters right down to the wire.
