Game Overview
Deep Space is this weirdly charming Amiga space sim where you play as an owl-headed space pirate—yes, really—flying a fighter through alien territory to blow up their mothership. The cockpit’s packed with dials and switches you actually have to fiddle with (mouse and keyboard, not just joystick), which gives it this oddly immersive feel for an early 3D space game.
You’ll dogfight blocky enemy ships, scoop up their squirming alien pilots (who eject in these little pods), and dodge minefields while trying not to run out of fuel. If you do, you can risk skimming gas giants, but it’s like threading a needle while getting shot at. Credits from kills buy repairs or quark bombs, or you can hoard them for a high score.
No campaign, just five star systems that get progressively meaner. The whole thing has that distinct Psygnosis vibe—kinda grim, kinda surreal, and way more tactile than you’d expect. It’s janky in places, but there’s nothing else quite like it.
