DemiKids: Light Version is one of those weird little GBA RPGs that somehow makes demon collecting feel cozy. You play as Jin, a kid who gets dragged into fixing a time rift in the demon world—because apparently, that’s just what happens to middle schoolers sometimes.
The combat’s got this fun twist where you recruit demons mid-battle by talking them down instead of just whacking everything. Some want bribes, others need convincing, and a few just straight-up mock you before joining. There’s like 350 of these guys, but good luck catching ‘em all without a friend who owns the Dark Version (classic early-2000s move).
It’s got that early Shin Megami Tensei vibe but way more approachable—no existential dread, just weird little monsters and turn-based fights where elemental weaknesses actually matter. The demon designs are a highlight, ranging from “aww, cute” to “why does this thing have three mouths?”
