Dexterity came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by SNK. It was one of those puzzle games that felt right at home on the handheld, something you could pick up for a few minutes between bus stops or during a quiet evening. It didn't try to be the next big adventure; it was just a solid, thoughtful challenge built for the system's limitations and strengths.
You control a small character moving on a grid of tiles, flipping them over by stepping on them. The goal is to turn the entire board a single color, but monsters hatch from eggs and start undoing your progress, reversing flipped tiles or pushing blocks into your path. You can kick blocks to crush enemies or toss them while they're still in egg form to clear the way. The pace is deliberate, almost methodical, but the difficulty ramps up quickly as more creatures spawn and complicate your strategies. It feels like a constant battle between careful planning and reacting to chaos.
