Game Overview

I picked up Die Unglaublichen on Game Boy Advance back when it came out, a tie in with the movie. It was developed by Helixe and published by THQ, one of those many licensed platformers that filled the shelves alongside more original titles. It fits right into that era of portable games, straightforward action built for quick sessions.

You control Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone across side scrolling levels, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Mr. Incredible smashes obstacles and enemies, Elastigirl stretches across gaps to reach new areas, and Frozone freezes water to create platforms. The goal is to fight through each stage, defeat bosses, and ultimately stop Syndrome. The game uses screen by screen exploration, light puzzle solving with character switching, and collecting health upgrades and special tokens. It moves at a steady pace and can get tricky in spots, especially later on. Playing it feels like a solid, capable adaptation that makes good use of the characters' powers.
