Game Overview

Divine Sealing is one of those Sega Genesis games that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s a weird little action-RPG hybrid that somehow works. You start off slashing through enemies like a beat ‘em up, but then—surprise—you’ve got this whole magic system where you can freeze, burn, or electrocute everything on screen. The first time I accidentally combo’d a fire spell into a sword swipe, I just sat there grinning.

The art’s got that classic ‘90s anime vibe, all bright colors and dramatic spell effects, and the music goes harder than it needs to. It’s not perfect—some of the platforming bits feel a little janky—but there’s something about the way it mashes up martial arts and magic that just clicks. If you’ve got a soft spot for forgotten Genesis deep cuts, this one’s worth digging up.
