Dungeonland was a Game Boy release from 0, a time when handheld adventures were often about compact, focused challenges. It was developed by Kemco, a company that put out a number of games for the system, and it fits right into that era of straightforward, screen-by-screen exploration.
You control a small hero navigating a maze-like dungeon, room by room, with the goal of finding a key to unlock the exit on each floor. Your main tools are a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting enemies or switches from a distance. The pacing is deliberate; you have to watch your step, as traps like false floors and moving walls are common, and the monsters require careful timing to defeat without taking damage. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every new screen could be your last.
