Game Overview

EA Hockey for the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive if you're in Europe) is basically NHL Hockey but with international teams instead. Same fast-paced arcade hockey action, just swap out the NHL logos for national squads like Canada, USA, and Sweden.

The controls feel identical to NHL Hockey—you've got the same satisfying body checks, slap shots that actually feel powerful, and that classic top-down view where players look like little bobbleheads skating around. First time I played, I went straight for Canada (naturally) and got wrecked by the Soviet team's passing game. Lesson learned.

It's not as polished as later NHL games, but if you miss that early 90s hockey vibe where everything's a bit chaotic and scoring feels like an achievement, this one's a solid alternative. Just don't expect fancy animations or realistic physics—this is pure arcade hockey at its chunky pixel best.
