Play Ecco the Dolphin II (Japan) Online
You time-travel as Ecco, weaving through ancient ruins and eerie alien voids—dodging sharks one moment, solving sonar puzzles in surreal future oceans the next. That dolphin physics? Tricky at first, then pure flow.

Game Overview
Ecco the Dolphin II: The Tides of Time is one of those Genesis games that sticks with you—not just because it's gorgeous, but because it's downright weird in the best way. You're still Ecco, but this time you're bouncing between eras, from ancient oceans full of jellyfish to this eerie, futuristic void where the water feels... wrong. The puzzles get trickier, the music gets moodier, and yeah, those alien sections? Still unsettling decades later.
What I love is how it plays with time—you'll swim through a crumbling Atlantis or dodge prehistoric sharks, then suddenly warp to some abstract nightmare zone where the rules change. The controls take a minute to click (dolphin physics aren't exactly Mario), but once they do, gliding through caves or using sonar to unlock hidden paths feels amazing. Just don't expect hand-holding—this game will drown you if you're not paying attention.
It's the kind of sequel that doubles down on everything that made the first game special, for better or worse. You'll either adore it or rage-quit during the Vortex levels. No in-between.
